Bobbi Downs, Secretary

Bobbi’s love and passion for hospice began at the young age of 7, when she watched her mother care for her mother in their home. There was only a volunteer hospice in the small town where she lived, so all of the hands-on care came straight from her family. As Bobbi’s first major loss in life, she was able to recognize how lucky her family was to spend those precious weeks with her grandmother, making memories and saying goodbye.

After the loss of her grandmother, Bobbi spoke of the many different ways she might work in hospice in any and all capacities. While she originally went to college with a nursing degree in mind, she quickly pivoted to social work as her goal. Bobbi found that at home senior care was a perfect way to be able to work with and help seniors while putting herself through college. She worked as a private caregiver in both Kentucky in 2016 and at Amada Senior Care in Reno NV from 2016-2017. She was also awarded “Caregiver of the Year” from Amada in 2016.

Life had different plans for Bobbi, and a social work degree did not come to be. However, she has been working as a Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer for a hospice company for the past 9 years. Being able to work within the hospice atmosphere allows her to still be a part of the team who helps provide exceptional care to those populations at the end of their lives.

The LJW Guest House and the Circle of LIfe Hospice Foundation are something that Bobbi is extremely inspired by and motivated to assist in its sustainability.  Being able to serve on the board in any capacity is an honor.

When Bobbi is not working she is busy playing chauffeur to her 2 daughters and their sports, reading, and taking care of her many animals.
